Biotechnologies

This is a particularly promising line of development in the Mulhouse area with its emerging neuroscience sector materialised by the presence of an internationally renowned medical test centre and the recent establishment in the “La Fabrique” building in the Mer Rouge park of a newly founded pharmaceutics company specializing in the research and development of new medicine for the treatment of illnesses affecting the central nervous system.
Not to mention, of course, the other companies in the area which are active in the fields of agrobiology and state-of-the-art medical equipment.fabrique

Biotechnological research with direct applications is carried out within the Upper Alsace University with the Higher National School of Chemical engineering working on therapeutic and environmental chemistry and the Higher National School of Textile Industries devoting time to vascular biomaterials. If we add to this the high-level research into the field of stem cells being carried out by the Haematology and transplant research centre at the Mulhouse Hospital Complex, it is easy to understand why the Mulhouse area holds a particular attraction for any business wishing to promote their competencies in this field.

The Mulhouse area also has the advantage of being close neighbours with the biotechnology and pharmaceutics companies and research teams of the three border regions – Alsace, North West Switzerland and South West Germany who have grouped together under the name “BioValley”, a three-nation network of which, it goes without saying, the Mulhouse Technopole is an affiliate.
